Our Focus
Acupuncture West, LLC is an acupuncture and integrative medicine clinic located in Boise, Idaho. We are focused on improving the lives of our patients through acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and BodyTalk treatment. We specialize in the treatment of acute and chronic pain as well as women’s health disorders, including infertility.

Our Philosophy
The foundation of our treatment philosophy is the belief that the human body has the innate ability to promote and restore health. Our bodies are equipped with a basic program: the ability to heal. When properly balanced and cared for, the human body thrives and radiates vitality.

At times, however, our ability to heal can become overtaxed due to emotional stress, unhealthy lifestyle choices, harmful environmental factors, poor diet, or physical injury. When this happens, we experience poor health in the form of low energy, pain, discomfort, or disease. In Chinese medicine, this is seen as an inability to maintain proper energy flow and balance. Acupuncture activates the natural self healing abilities of the body and facilitates the healing process. By identifying and correcting imbalances, Chinese medicine focuses on supporting and strengthening the body, while also helping to prevent future illness and disease.

Our Approach
With all treatment therapies, our goal is to fix the underlying imbalance or problem, rather than to simply mask the unwanted symptoms. The signs and symptoms, as uncomfortable as they may be, are viewed as a feedback mechanism indicating that there is an imbalance. It is the job of the practitioner to determine the root cause of the imbalance and administer treatment focused on creating balance. When the root cause is appropriately addressed, the signs and symptoms will subside.

Acupuncture in the United States
Traditional Chinese medicine has been practiced for thousands of years in Asia, but was virtually unknown in the United States until President Nixon visited China in 1971. Since that time, public interest has grown tremendously and acupuncture has become a very important and promising part of our health care system.

Clinical Research Data
“Does acupuncture really work?” This is the question that we are asked most often. Today, there is an ever increasing amount of research data available supporting the effectiveness of acupuncture and Chinese herbs. Many modern research studies, conducted in all parts of the world, have concluded that acupuncture is indeed effective in the treatment of a wide variety of disorders, and many other such studies are currently in progress. Chinese Medicine as a Complement to Conventional Medicine
At Acupuncture West, LLC, we have a healthy respect for conventional medicine and believe that it has a very important place in our society. We recommend that our patients also look to their Western primary care practitioner (i.e., MD) for medical care and routine check-ups. We believe that all medical systems have their own intrinsic strengths.

Although Chinese medicine is fundamentally different than conventional medicine, both systems can be very effective in helping individuals to feel better and healthier. Ultimately, the two systems combined together have the greatest potential to support, strengthen, and nurture a patient back to health and well being.
